Interested in applying your academic passions to Homeland Security?
The Department of Homeland Security Scholarship and Fellowship program is for students interested in applying science, engineering, mathematics, or technology to the mission of the department. The program will fund graduate study and research as well as provide valuable real world experience through summer programs at DHS sites. It also provides guaranteed employment upon graduation.

Interested in studying a language and culture abroad? Check out the Boren Program Webinars
The Boren Scholarship (UG) The Boren Fellowship (G) programs, which fund studies of langauge and culture abroad, will be hosting a series of webinars in November and December. The webinars will cover information about the programs, application process, placement, etc. Check out the Boren web site or the Fellowships Office online calendar for the dates.

Morris K Udall and Stewart L Udall Foundation Scholarship
The Udall Foundation scholarship provides funding to college juniors who are committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care. The 2010 Competition materials are available from their website. The national deadline is in March, but the MU campus deadline is December 15. Contact Dr. Jan Weaver, MU’s Udall campus representative, for more information on the application process.

New Dept. Of Defense Scholarship Program
The DOD has created the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation scholarship to support both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In addition to financial support for their education, recipients will have summer internships at DOD research sites.

Critical Language Scholarship Workshop
The Critical Language Scholarship Program supports intensive overseas study in the critical need foreign languages of Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Turkish and Urdu, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Russian, Japanese, and Indonesian. A representative of the program will present an informational and application workshop from 3:30 to 5:00, Nov. 4th, in Mem. Union S207. This event is co-sponsored by the Asian Affairs Center and the MU Fellowships Office. E-mail fellowships@missouri.edu for more information.

Glamour Magazine’s Top 10 College Women Competition Now Open
Glamour magazine is once again searching for dynamic college juniors for its annual competition. Candidates are evaluated on leadership experience, personal involvement in community and campus affairs, and academic excellence. Winners receive $3000, coverage in an issue of the magazine, opportunities to meet women in their field, and a trip to New York City to meet the other winners. An MU student was selected in 2007.

Wanted: Smart New Ideas on Global Health
The CSIS Commission on Smart Global Health has created a new essay contest addressing the question: “What is the most important thing the U.S. can do to improve global health over the next 15 years?" It is seeking fresh, new ideas that can produce big gains in global health for a report to be published in January 2010 that charts the future for U.S. global health policy. First place will receive a $1000 scholarship; second place is $500.
