Critical Language Scholarship Deadline

November 16th, 2016

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides study opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning. The CLS Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Students can apply to study Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.

Although applicants do not have to be nominated or endorsed by MU, we highly encourage students to seek assistance from the Fellowships Office on the various application components. We recommend students work on developing their applications throughout the month of October so they are ready to submit them by the application deadline in early November.

If you want to learn more about the CLS program or intend to apply, email fellowships@missouri.edu to set up an appointment.
